Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)
We use Kofax PowerPDF to create and edit PDF files across our entire organization. I personally use it to trim the PDF of bills from companies like Comcast and Verizon down to the remittance page to pass along to Accounts Payable and to insert my signature into PDFs so that I don't have to print and scan them. Other users create fillable forms for use on our website, modify document content and layout and add or remove pages to create current versions of various forms and policies.
Pros
- Managing and inserting digital signatures or images of signatures is quick and easy. Secure documents can be created quickly.
- Modifying an existing PDF is very quick and easy with PowerPDF.
- Creating a new PDF from an existing source is extremely quick and easy. I often have to combine a directory of scanned pages into a single PDF file and I can complete the task in seconds.
Cons
- The purple color scheme could be changed to match the new Kofax branding. I find the inconsistency annoying.
- Better scanning integration would be helpful. I haven't been able to get it to scan directly from a Xerox MFP. To be fair, I'm not sure if the issue if with Kofax or Xerox.
- More frequent updates on an easier to get site would also be appreciated.
- The product previously in place was 3x more expensive than PowerPDF and our users find PowerPDF easier to work with.
- We spend little time supporting our PowerPDF users. They figure out how to use it on their own and rarely call for assistance.
We used Adobe Acrobat for many years and versions. The cost for the Pro version (which we needed to get all the required features) was very high and we were constantly patching or upgrading to protect against vulnerabilities. It was more difficult to use than PowerPDF, as well. We liked this product, but ran into compatibility issues with some of the PDFs we created when used with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
