Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

These devices are easy to implement. Anyone in IT could hook up the unit, join to the cloud and network, and start video conferencing!
Lifesize Video Conferencing has been used by our company for over 6 years. As we reviewed the different vendors in the market, Lifesize offered the best value for our company. The quality has always been good in regards to video, data, and voice. We have since moved from using point to point connections to Lifesize Cloud. This dramatically increased the amount of connected parties we could have in one conference, without having to invest in an onsite MCU. The pricing on the cloud licensing is very competitive, and the quality is great. In addition, our company using Skype for Business for collaboration. The ability to bring Skype for Business users in a Lifesize video conference I used often, and bridging the multiple communication platforms in our company is imperative.

Lifesize is a great product.

Pros

  • Integrating with Skype for Business.
  • Ease of operability with touch screen HD phones.
  • Competitive pricing on Lifesize cloud, greatly expanding the amount of simultaneous conferences the company can have.
  • High Quality Video/Audio/Data.

Cons

  • Active Directory Integration would be great. A method of importing group contacts for use with Skype for Business. Today, this is manual.
  • The ability to make a point to point call over private WAN links, while also being connected to Lifesize cloud.
  • The ability to join and disjoin a unit from Lifesize Cloud without a factory reset.
Video conferencing is needed when the knowledge gained from reading a person is important. Examples would be training, an interview, a sales team meeting. Understanding when the audience is engaged, when they are paying attention, and other physical traits can be very important in certain situations. A small group simply reviewing sales numbers for 10 minutes would not need video conferencing, they can use a tool like Skype for Business or WebEx to have voice and data sharing.
