Overall Satisfaction with Linode
LAMP stack hosting of websites.
- Self service VMs
- DNS management
- Scale up and down
- In my experience, in the past 3 months, the downtime in the London data centre has been regular and sustained with repeated +1 hour whole datacentre outages.
- I feel the downtime disclosure is not very forthcoming. They need to provide better forensic detail of outages which have been way too regular in London Lately.
- In my experience, a server disk fault resulted in the loss of a whole VM and all its data! They were unable to recover, so we needed to resort to our disaster recovery backups.
- Quick response to client question for resources
- Cloud competitor without a lot of the bluechip fuss / scalecost
- Support team who can and will help without a 10k pa retainer
- Amazon Lightsail, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) and DigitalOcean Droplets
Good price to performance ratio.
Very important, and this is where Linode has really let us down. In my experience, there have been 3x major 1h+ whole data centre outages in the London region in the past 3 months.
