Overall Satisfaction with ManageEngine ADAudit Plus
Don't be put off by the somewhat archaic user interface, the application itself is a top-notch log auditing solution for Windows shops, and can even track non-Windows log entries as a syslog server. We use it for security audits, accreditation and validation audits, and internally when we need to conduct an investigation into an event or a user that has "exceeded process parameters" (breaking or slacking off, respectively). It's a solid, versatile tool that gets the job done and has a tremendous amount of useful reports already prepared from day one.
- Extremely detailed event log tracking.
- Excellent ad hoc reporting with great filters.
- Useful dashboards that help find unknown issues.
- The UI is a bit clunky.
- Installing SSL/TLS certs is less than optimal.
- Reduced our log investigation time by at LEAST tenfold.
- Integrated with our SIEM via syslog server for even deeper reporting.
- Helps track anomalous activity with ease.
- Provides verification of our security efforts.
We use ADAudit Plus along with our Wazuh based SIEM, having removed AlienVault. The two together work in complementary ways, allowing us to not only audit, but also vet and analyze the results of our investigations and continuous quality improvement efforts. Logaholic was looked at as an alternative, but ultimately we felt it was too website-focused for our mostly-Windows server shop.
