Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Marketo is used by our marketing team and our sales team. It helps us automate our marketing efforts, create sophisticated demand generation programs, analyze and optimize our marketing efforts, execute our lead management framework, communicate lead activity with sales and track marketing's impact on sales revenues.

Pros

  • Multi-touch attribution
  • Lead source tracking and channel attribution
  • Marketing automation
  • Lead management

Cons

  • Real-time Revenue Cycle Explorer reports
  • Increased employee efficiency
  • Increased ability to create complex demand generation programs
  • Increased visibility into lead source and what happens after a lead is passed to sales
  • Higher quality leads being passed to sales, thanks to lead scoring
  • IBM Silverpop Engage
I briefly used Silverpop in the past to create unique landing pages, run a scoring model and analyze results. It was much more labor intensive and offered much less on the reporting side.
Marketo is a great solution for a marketing team that wants to score leads, track results and automate complex marketing efforts. Marketo would be less appropriate for a team that simply wants to send automated emails. It can perform this function extremely well, but you would be paying for much more than you would use.

Marketo Implementation

Start with the basics! And then slowly start to use other parts of the system. We also found a lot of value in working with a Marketo consultant as we started using the more advanced features.
Yes - Initial use of basic automation
Lead scoring and source tracking
Integration with Salesforce
Reporting
Advanced source tracking
Advanced reporting
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled - There was not much change management to do on the marketing team, but there was quite a bit of work to do on the sales side of things when we integrated with Salesforce. I would be sure to work closely with your sales trainer to ensure that sales rep are taught how to get the most of out Marketo Sales Insights. I would also work closely with sales ops to ensure that the integration is set up properly for your organization.

Marketo Support

I do believe there are some improvements that could be made to call wait times.

Yes - We have found it extremely valuable.
I have experienced multiple times when a support rep went above and beyond in finding the right answer and following up to be sure it continued to work for us.
