Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

The marketing department uses Marketo to help nurture existing leads and contacts and for lead generation.
  • User friendly system - with auto-save features to keep your work from vanishing.
  • Segmentation of lead database - including the ability to break the database up by department, persona, or geographically within partitions of their own.
  • Seamless integration with Salesforce.com.
  • Engagement programs are confusing and lack documentation.
  • Reporting is either not intuitive or lacks major capabilities.
  • Landing page builder is not a true responsive design for creating mobile friendly landing pages.
  • Email building tool is set up with defaults that go against email coding best practices which as they continuously update the tool with more non-best practice defaults continuously break email templates.
First, I didn't select Marketo but it would be one of my top two choices. I think Marketo is the most user friendly for marketers that are not technically savvy. I consider Eloqua better as long as you don't have anyone in it that doesn't understand how to use it properly.

Marketo doesn't have as steep a learning curve and, while more restrictive in its abilities, is the better option for a marketing department that until the last few years never considered needing something so complex to do their job.
Marketo is great for the majority of mid-size corporations and companies with established marketing departments that understand, on an intermediate level, online marketing. It is not suited for giant corporations which have 5+ million leads and need to be able to actively clean their database, send multi-million email blasts, create complex logic dictated lead nurtures.

Evaluating Marketo and Competitors

No because I didn't choose this. Someone before me did.
I would have to review all the new products that have come out since we choose Marketo and review all the new features of the existing products. Compare them and compare the capbabilities to our existing needs, and any new needs that have come about since we last evaluated the situation.

Marketo Support

It would be a 10/10 but the first responder, as is usual, is not usually technical enough to help out.
