Overall Satisfaction with MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence

The Manufacturing Excellence solution has provided better visibility of out of specification results at time of occurrence. In addition, through good setup most calculations have been automated to reduce user errors. Furthermore, the review by exception function reduces review time by focusing on data that has limits exceeded and corrections rather than verifying all entries.

Pros

  • Coding is not needed to build production records
  • All data input types are highly configurable from getting data collected from integrated systems all the way to simple text entries.
  • Customer service is outstanding to keep our cases resolved in a timely manner.
  • The updates continue to improve end user experiences and better functionality

Cons

  • Consider more quality tools within Manufacturing Excellence. The integrated quality application BL from MasterControl is great but is additional application.
  • The default Insights tools could be more user friendly and is on the roadmap for enhancements. Premium Insights is available and much more effective.
  • The new solutions to include analytics/insights for logbooks and other integrated application look promising.
  • End users prefer electronic records due to automated calculations and immediate alerts when tolerances are exceeded
  • Users spend much less time entering data
  • Review times are significantly reduced
  • Reduce number of records (master templates) by 40% while still covering all products
Users welcome the input to get the immediate feedback of a tolerance is helpful. Equipment setup and process checks are two examples. The no coding perspective to build records make it easy to learn for process people instead of computer science people. Lastly, the end users no longer to use calculators to determine yields and more.

The paradigm shift as a result of MasterControl include one record that handles multiple products instead of every product has a separate record. The application is great for pharmaceutical, over the counter and cosmetic products for step to prepare the bulk and fill finished goods. The limit setting provide immediate feedback to end users.

90 - Quality and Operations are the primary users of MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence. Bulk processes through packaging process
2 - Primary activities are Builder role to revise templates. IT supports some aspects.
  • Batch records for cGMP production of bulk product
  • Batch records for cGMP production of packaged finished product
  • In-process checks have been enhanced to get a more complete check on production with emphasis on critical parameters
  • The ability to project data from prior entries has been helpful to show the end user exactly what is required for the check to pass
  • Use Mx to perform laboratory activities
  • Use Mx to perform incoming inspection
The quality service and the strong production versatility has helped us develop a great solution for our batch records. These improvements are much better than the legacy batch records and provide immediate access at multiple points across the organization. Would definitely purchase again.

MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence Support

During a few early templates, a configuration for product family had not been removed and it created an error. The subject matter expert and support desk was able to help me understand the error was builder generated and how to resolve it very quickly. This is now a non-existent occurrence.

I have the regular support plan and find it to be outstanding.
Yes - Yes, depending on the impact, they have performed an emergency patch. In contrast, minor defects are rolled into regularly scheduled patches. I have been very satisfied with defect/bug resolution.
One time, I had a publishing error which contributed to a template mistakenly being duplicated and getting two identification numbers for the same document. The subject matter expert was able to walk me through what happened and explained the resolution. This was a major priority holding up production. They were able to help me resolve it within a couple hours.
