Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 Defender

We use it for logs. We use it for access for creating role-based access. We use it for defending our VMs, our cloud-based spas, and stuff like that.

Pros

  • It allows us to see spam and to be able to block certain aspects for email.
  • It has a really good dashboard.

Cons

  • Functionality. So I guess the area that it could use improvement is if you're looking something up, for example, and you look up how to do something, Microsoft changes their product a lot. So you'll see a way to actually perform a function that you're trying to do and you'll look up a way to do that function. The platform itself has changed from when the training material was last provided and in one of the training that we had on the product itself, during the training, the Microsoft trainer couldn't show us. He had to wait through the training and look up himself because the platform had changed and he wasn't notified even to the trainer who was showing us that the change had happened. That's my biggest area that they could use improvement is to leave the product alone long enough that people can get used to using it and then where everything's at and then have a better communication process when changes are made or have different training modules depending on what version. It seems like there's so much change and they have to change all the time. The industry changes all the time and that's understandable, but the interface itself for the product changes so often that it's hard to keep up with. Honestly.
  • The positive is that we can see active attacks and it gives you recommendations on how to resolve those actions and so it's nice in that aspect.
I don't know because I wasn't part of the team before they did it.
Trying to, yes. We're trying to set up those automations ourselves right now. It is limited because we're implementing those automated processes.
We use a different platform, but yes, we do have a connection. It's an integration that we use with Rapid Seven. Rapid Seven is our scene.
McAfee has a product, I can't remember the name. I'm terrible with names that I've used that were similar, but I don't know of any others. It is easier to use because most of the stuff that we have is cloud-based Microsoft products, so they fit hand in hand.

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Microsoft Defender XDR again?

Oh, I like Microsoft's products and I would recommend it. It's a good product. When used in conjunction with other Microsoft products. Less so if you have third-party software and third-party products that you're working with.
