Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention

I setup Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention for one of my customers who had an IT setup which had a hybrid environment. They had a office where employees used to work while some of their employees worked from home. We used Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention to protect their data from getting leaked outside their network.

Pros

  • Identification of sensitive information
  • Stops unwanted sharing of sensitive data
  • Good audit and reporting

Cons

  • Complex centralised console
  • Helped to protect information from leakage
As the customer already had Microsoft Office 365 E5 license, it made sense to implement Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention instead of other products.

Another could be a scenario wherein most of the employees work from home and we have no control on what they do at their homes. Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention also support a hybrid scenario where some employees work from office and others work from home.
