Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have a need to better utilize on-site resources as well as create a hybrid cloud solution. Using Morpheus we are able to start on our journey towards having a hybrid cloud. Our first step is in getting local resources that are easily consumable by those that need those resources. Right now there are parts of the organization that are using it and we are slowly rolling it out to the rest of the organization.

Pros and Cons

Copious native 3rd party integrations.
Ties into multiple public and private clouds for single management plane.
True multi-tenancy.

System is complex to setup and navigate.
Licensing is complicated (VM's vs applications).
Lack of training materials.

Return on Investment

It has allowed us to shorten operational time that it took to provide resources to teams.
There is better cost visibility in the different cloud solutions.

Alternatives Considered

We previously were using VRA. VRA, while some of the new versions look interesting is hard for both administration as well as end user consumption.

Support Rating

Morpheus is a nice looking, well integrated piece of software that really gives the end user what they want. It abstracts away things that don't need to be known, but at the same time it allows users to get what they need. The deep integrations do result in it being complicated, and that is where you can get lost in the weeds, because there are a whole lot of levers and buttons that are available in Morpheus.

Morpheus is well suited for those who want to have a management pane of glass that will allow you to see what you are consuming and how you are consuming it. It also ties into many other types of software and the development team seems to be constantly improving the product. That lends it to being a bit complicated. If you want something easy to set up, this isn't your product.
