Overall Satisfaction with MS SharePoint / SQL

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio was used for day to day database querying. It was the to-go platform to analyze data and perform ETL processes. Additionally, it was also used to develop SSIS packages to facilitate automated processes for the organization.

Pros

  • Very robust framework for database querying
  • Good processing speeds when dealing with large data
  • Seemless integration with other MS products like Visual Studio and Sharepoint

Cons

  • MS SQl Server Management Studio runs slower with ODBC connections and when ported over server proxies
We evaluated PgAdmin, MySQL. MS SQL server provides more flexibility with integration and has demonstrated efficient run times for data processing.
On which database if your architecture built? - Greenplum? Teradata? Oracle?
Do you use any other scripting languages other than SQL for data processing?
Which systems do you need to integrate within the organization- dependencies on inter communication between the processes?
