Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Java SE Subscription

Oracle Java SE Subscription is being used across the organization. We use it mostly in the EMR we have for our inpatients, although it is used for several other applications too. Several of our EMRs require it to run different applications in their software. We need to update it in order for it to function correctly.
  • Ease of use
  • Does work well with other appllications
  • Can be pushed out to all at once
  • Cost
  • Updates
  • Different versions create different issues
  • I would say it had a positive impact overall
  • New fee structure is cost prohibitive
  • Easy to use
We are evaluating, but our EMRs may not support another product. I am not sure what the alternative would be, but if we can find a more affordable option, we are going to take it. With some of these programs, we were not given another option and we had to use Oracle Java SE Subscription.
Their support is OK; we have not had to use it much over the life of the product. There have not been so many issues that we have had to call Oracle directly. Most of the issues that we have can be handled with the EMR vendor.

Do you think Oracle Java SE Subscription delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Oracle Java SE Subscription's feature set?

Yes

Did Oracle Java SE Subscription live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Oracle Java SE Subscription go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Oracle Java SE Subscription again?

No

Their new cost structure is way too expensive. It is nowhere near worth the cost they charge. I am not sure how they determine the value of the product, but I think they need to look at the cost structure. For small hospitals, their new cost structure has make it almost unaffordable.
