Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Linux

We working with Exadata boxes where Oracle Linux is installed as a main operating system (X6 and X7 Exadata systems). We don't have any problems with Oracle Linux server operating system. We get used to patching it on regular basis (twice a year). Oracle Linux server is used by our customers.

Pros

  • Stability
  • Easy to maintain.
  • Easy to patch.
  • Easy to investigate issues.

Cons

  • I have no idea here as this is an operating system and the main role is to be stable.
  • I cannot provide you here any number as we work only on customer's systems.
  • Question should be address to the Exadata owner.
I can give 10 as we never contact oracle support for Oracle Linux level :) This is a good factor in comparison to other oracle products such as oracle RDBMS etc. :)

As we use it in the predefined environment (Exadata boxes) we find it very suitable and stable there. Also for any test env out of Exadata like virtual boxes is also good. I guess also it is a very good starting point for all those who want to get familiar with Linux operating system.
