Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Warehouse Builder

We have been able to implement Oracle Warehouse Builder for a department and as an enterprise solution. We have used it for years to transform data and clean bad data. All this means is that we consolidate the random spreadsheets, home-grown applications, flat-files, and anything else that users can manage to produce randomly. We can bring that junk together and scrub it so it's not only in one place but clean, too.
  • Connects to random sources
  • User friendly
  • Variables are kinda clunky
  • Auto population
  • Cleans up randomness
  • Creates a place for rules of transformation
I think that Oracle Warehouse Builder is easier to use the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). The connections in Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) are easier to understand when troubleshooting. Anything that makes troubleshooting easier gets higher marks in my book. ODI wins in the heavy lifting and enterprise solution realm. ODI is much easier to implement at that level. The web interface that can be setup for business users to kick off scenarios is better than the interface that we can give access to in OWB.

Do you think Oracle Warehouse Builder delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Oracle Warehouse Builder's feature set?

Yes

Did Oracle Warehouse Builder live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Oracle Warehouse Builder go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Oracle Warehouse Builder again?

Yes

The best place for Oracle Warehouse Builder is at the business IT level. It's not suited for business-level users. They are easy confused. One way to reduce the confusion for the developers is to set up the workspaces based on the requirements that are discovered in design sessions. Once this is complete, the implementation of Oracle Warehouse Builder can take flight and be successful.
