Overall Satisfaction with Planview Portfolios
We use Planview Portfolios for managing all Capital and most Expense Projects including annual planning, ongoing execution, resource management, and financial data forecasting and actuals tracking.
Pros
- Track financial actuals and forecasts.
- Present projects in user definable portfolios based on user selected criteria.
- It provides visibility of resource assignments and utilization through any number of organizational and other attribute filters.
Cons
- Some users feel the UI could be more intuitive. Although once learned, users are ok with it; new users are sometimes reluctant.
- Better history tracking for financials and schedule changes would improve our ability to address user concerns with unexpected changes to data.
- Giving Users the ability to go back to a previous life cycle step.
- Undo button for changes to project schedules and financials.
- Provides business with the ability to identify and focus on strategic projects and align them with objectives.
- Gives business visibility of resource utilization so staffing needs can be anticipated and addressed.
- Provides business with clear visibility of cost forecasts and performance vs budget.

Yes - Demand Management, followed by Resource Management, is used for specific processes. We are continuing to add new businesses.
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled

Configuring Planview Portfolios
Keep Lifecycles simple. Conditional branching can make following lifecycle config difficult and testing of changes becomes too complicated because of all the combinations requiring specific testing.

We have a Technical Account Manager if that's what you mean by Premium Support. We do our own config for the most part.
Yes - Reasonably so. We rolled into a future release. A Hot Fix would have made this better.
The last contracted rollout for one of our Business Units went exceptionally well. The Consultant, was excellent to work with.
