  • Handles complex data sources and compound visualizations well.
  • Very helpful to have built-in ETL capabilities to support combining data from various sources that may not be totally consistent (different account code formats can be transformed as part of the data load).
  • Associative data modeling helps to guide the user through the data. Irrelevant parameters are greyed out, meaning no "dead ends" for users in the data navigation.
  • Distributing reports/dashboards regularly is not so elegant.
  • Don't have fine granular control over some visual elements, e.g. font size in a dashboard with multiple charts combined together.
  • QV has improved the availability and shareability of data between groups - allowing us to quickly isolate issues and communicate the problem effectively
For this tool to be effective, you need a resource that is very familiar with database management, joining tables, writing load and transform scripts. This is beyond the skill set of the typical user... effectively I had to hire an analyst to develop Qlikview applications.

I would like to continue to use Qlikview but have internal pressure to use another tool that is more focused on simple data visualization but doesn't handle complex data-sources or transformation. Lack of internal support may result in moving away from Qlikview to the other tool.
Be aware of the licensing model - it can quickly become expensive/ cumbersome if deploying to a large group of casual users.
