Overall Satisfaction with QlikView

At my former employer, we were a reseller of the technology. We also implemented it for internal use. Our CFO, CTO and heads of marketing used the tool on a daily basis. It helped them gain quick insite into our Consulting business
  • Ease of use for the user
  • Quick dev to production lifecycle
  • Very visual analytics
  • Licensing is difficult to understand and expensive
  • More point and click functions
  • Better insight into customer buying trends
  • Able to spot billing errors
I used an old version of Cognos and it didn't stand a chance against QlikView. I now use BO Data Services and it's just a different tool than QlikView. Its hard to compare them.
Well, I won't be renewing since I'm not using it anymore. But if I had the decision, I would. It's just such a great tool built off of regular t-sql.
When an EDW solution is needed, QlikView on its own is not the right tool. But it is a great top layer for a Large EDW. Or for a small business it can get the job done without adding the EDW complexity.
