Overall Satisfaction with Rackspace Managed Public Cloud
Rackspace is used to augment the current IT department. They are used to manage and support Azure and some security services including firewalls and IPSec VPN termination. They assist with the support of process-oriented tasks like patching, setting up servers in Azure, support for network services in Azure, and setting up and tearing down of VPNs. They also provide redundancy to existing services.
- Azure support for processes
- Network services and support
- Architecture review
- Project planning
- Customer service rep doesn’t necessarily have the leverage to get things done.
- Missed tasks that were part of the runbook.
- Pushing gear that might not be the best for the customer.
- Less time spent supporting services and more time can be spent on architecture.
- Off hour support.
- Initial review of current architecture and recommendations.
We used hosting.com in the past. The customer support is significantly better. Knowledge of products is more. Better handling of expedited/emergency situations. Responsive to feedback. The account rep is available for any escalations. Due to the vast area of expertise, we leverage them for different aspects of infrastructure
