Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) basic review
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
We use RHEL for our server infrastructure as an alternative to windows. Often RHEL offers increased performance as well as runs without GUI. Several teams prefer the platform over windows alternatives. We also use RHEL satellite for our patching compliance and Ansible automation to support our infrastructure. We have about 400 servers running RHEL
Pros
- Maximized performance while being GUIless.
- Opensource patching compliance
- Scalability
Cons
- I don't really have detailed examples of where RHEL falls short over windows besides peoples knowledge of the application
- Our RHEL environment continues to grow. Multiple windows based applications have moved to RHEL and the trend continues.
