Great solution for virtualization
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
We are using Red Hat OpenShift as a replacement for our current virtual solution and to modernize our environment. We are replacing 4 production clusters and 3 lab clusters. Beginning with just virtualization but with an eye toward implementing more containerized workloads, pipelines, and a hybrid cloud strategy in the long run.
Pros
- Streamlined bare-metal cluster deployment via the Assisted Installer
- Simplified migration via the Migration toolkit for Virtualization
- Easy access to useful metrics and information
Cons
- Increased visibility from Multi-cluster managment would be nice
- Increased savings on virtualization licensing
Red Hat OpenShift observability has improved our visibility into our Virtualization platform. Red Hat OpenShift virtualization has reduced the overhead to manage our VM environment and streamlines our product implementation to red Hat toolsets.
We are using Red Hat OpenShift on prem only but have plans to leverage it to implement a hybrid cloud strategy for improved resiliency and DR capabilities as well as to provide a more compact and robust solution to deploy to our edge
