Overall Satisfaction with Sage 50

We use Sage 50 for all of our accounting requirements in our organisation. This bespoke software solution is used within our organisation to support the team in recording all our day-to-day transactions, including sales invoices, purchase invoices, employee expenses, and other required financial transactions. The software also allows us to attach all our receipts to transactions, allowing us to go paperless and reduce our need for printing items.

Pros

  • Recording purchase invoices.
  • Preparing BACS files for bank import.
  • Bank reconciliations.

Cons

  • Invoice template functionality.
  • Bank feeds can be a bit clunky.
  • Challenging for VAT returns for those with complex VAT requirements.
  • Produces standardised reports for management.
  • Records prior year transactions.
  • Attachments allow simplified record keeping.
Overall, Sage 50 is a highly intuitive program that is very easy to learn for beginners and offers a large amount of functionality that will benefit any small to medium-sized enterprise. It is great for recording sales invoices, purchase invoices, expenses, and tracking accounts receivable and payable. As a company scales up and expands its operations, Sage 50 may struggle to cope with the volume of transactions.
Sage Accounting is better suited for smaller organisations with fewer transactions. The invoicing system of this piece of software is a superior tool, however. Sage HR is more commonly used for employees to access payslips and record things such as annual leave or overtime. Sage Intacct is likely a more practical solution for a larger organisation with a higher volume of transactions.

Do you think Sage 50 delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Sage 50's feature set?

Yes

Did Sage 50 live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Sage 50 go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Sage 50 again?

Yes

Sage 50 Accounts is well-suited for small to medium-sized enterprises, where there is a moderate number of expenses and invoices that need processing, typically by a company with a smaller finance team. Sage 50 is probably less suitable for a large organisation that needs to handle a higher volume of transactions and manage significant stock levels.
