Sage Accounting for One Person Company
Overall Satisfaction with Sage Accounting
I run a one-person Limited Company and I was always concerned about being able to keep on top of my accounts, record keeping, invoicing and so on. This became a real concern when MTD (Making Tax Digital) became a requirement as I had to have software for submitting VAT (Value-added tax) returns, and I didn't know which platform to use. Having read the reviews, I chose Sage Accounting and I've found it to be really easy to use and has helped streamline my processes and takes less time that what I was doing before. I only need the basic Accounting package and it does everything I need. My accountant can access my records, so they like it as well.
Pros
- Invoicing
- VAT returns
- Cash flow
- Profit and Loss statements
- Expenses
Cons
- Reporting - I'd like to be able to compare YTD vs LYTD
- Reconciling bank accounts - I find this quite tricky
- It has enabled me to keep track of my sales turnover and profit
- I like being able to generate interim VAT returns to ensure that my cash flow can cover my liabilities
- Being able to record my business expenses and mileage is easy
I prefered the functionality and support available with Sage

Evaluating Sage Accounting and Competitors
- Cloud Solutions
- Ease of Use
Ultimately, my reason for choosing Sage was its reputation as a reliable software solution for MTD. This was something that was of a major concern to me in order to ensure that our VAT returns were accurate and in line with legislation.
It being so easy to use has been the main reason that I have stayed with the software and have been confident in it enough to stop using my own spreadsheets.

I would have a free trial of some alternative systems
