100% Sage Accounting Fan
Overall Satisfaction with Sage Accounting
I am a bookkeeper, I do 99% of my client's books on Sage Business Cloud Accounting.
90% of my clients are small (SMME) companies and does not require extremely complex software to run their businesses. Sage Accounting offers them everything they need in order to operate their business efficiently. It is user friendly and not difficult even for my clients to understand if I am unavailable for the day and they need to get the job done ASAP.

Pros
- Customer Documents and Emails sent to customers look professional
- Sage Accounting customer service is very good and someone always gets back to you
- The software is easy to navigate and understand
- Sage Accounting banking is straight forward, easy and it works well
- Processing VAT is a breeze and convenient
Cons
- Bank Recons are easy and I love it however, you can't find any record on Sage Accounting that you actually did the recon and can download a report afterwards as proof unless you download immediately.
- The amount of email addresses that you can add to your customers/suppliers are only 100 characters, you can add additional contacts but then they don't receive statements and when you send an invoice, you have to go and specifically select them to be included which sometimes you may forget. There could maybe be 2 places to add emails, one for statements and one for invoices as a lot of companies don't want their statements sent to the same people that get the invoices, if this makes any sense.
- You can only get a view of your top 10 clients, it would be nice to be able to get a report that has all your clients on but in order of high to low of how much they spend (every month or yearly etc.)
- Banking is much faster than manual entry, saves up time and more income
- I can work remotely in the bushveld so I can make money while I relax
- Setting up new companies is pretty easy and if it wasn't I probably would have had a client or 2 less than what I do
Sage Accounting VAT processing is easy and reports are easy to read and close off od VAT periods are simple and straight forward where I found some other software it is not as simple. When you add bank transactions manually and they have VAT, some other software would be out with 1 cent etc. where with Sage Accounting I haven't had such a problem before. Customer payment allocations is so easy and convenient, other platforms not so much.

Sage Accounting Feature Ratings
Using Sage Accounting
1 - It is only me as I don't have any employees... Yet.. :)
However, all my clients but 1 uses Sage. I am working on getting the last one also over to Sage. My clients understand Sage and I have no trouble in assisting them with any of their queries. I have casuals helping me out every now and again. They would import bank statements and allocate transactions. I do debt collection, debtors and creditors, bookkeeping functions up to trial balance, deal with suppliers and customers, statements, VAT and Payroll with Sage Payroll which is also really nice. We do stock control / stock take with some customers etc.

You do not have to be a bookkeeper or accountant to be able to use Sage. Any business person can use and understand how it works for basic business transactions such as invoicing etc.

Evaluating Sage Accounting and Competitors
Yes - I have used Sage from the start, however some of my clients used other software previously such as Quickbooks. I was able to load their Sage on my account and they could only pay 1 invoice instead of Sage and myself which was an added bonus. Other than that, Sage is just more user friendly and understandable. Much easier to explain to a customer than QB and they can actually understand. But also because I mostly deal with Sage.
- Cloud Solutions
- Ease of Use
Sage could do all that I needed and I was able to do the accounting adviser program which allowed me to have all my clients under one roof and at a better price too. Sending invoices and statements directly from Sage (which most other software can do now as well) and not having to download and create an email every time. I was also able to customise my invoicing layout which was nice.
I would search for accounting software programs.
Then choose a few based on 1. their pricing, 2. review rating and actual reviews on Google and 3. see if they have a number that one can contact, if there is no number, I won't even bother.
I'll then use a demo for the select few, which hopefully all will have.
Based on the user friendliness and needs that I have, I will make a choise.

Correct
Yes - Yes, however some things not, like banking with Capitec is still an issue with my clients but working around it.
With stock reflecting correctly on balance sheet, there is a whole process which I wasn't aware of and wouldn't have ever needed it unless my one client didn't specifically asked for this. I panicked and phoned Sage Accounting, on the same call, they were able to assist and advise and sort out my query.

- Customer Invoices
- Bank Imports
- Supplier Invoices
- You can't add more email addresses to customers than 100 characters
- You don't have an option to send invoices to certain email addresses and statements to other email addresses.
- It would be nice to have bottom description on invoices only on the last page and not every single page as it takes unnecessary space and paper.
Yes - I do not really use the mobile app although I have it on my phone for the day I might urgently need to do something and don't have my laptop with me but one of my customers are using it and seems to be able doing everything he needs to do on it. It is a bit limited on what you can do but overall for day-to-day transactions such as customer invoices, it works pefectly.
