Overall Satisfaction with Salesforce CMS

Our team uses Salesforce CMS to track our business development efforts and sales funnel to land new consulting engagements. Prior to implementing Salesforce CMS, we were could not have visibility into the business development efforts that multiple team members were pursuing. Salesforce CMS has enabled us to understand all of these efforts in aggregate, our success rate, and velocity in moving through the sales funnel. This has also helped improve our ability to forecast future revenue and plan accordingly.

Pros

  • Gives team members visibility into the total sales efforts of the team
  • Helps standardize data collection on sales efforts
  • Creates an end-to-end view of the sales funnel, and where opportunities may be getting stalled
  • Provides a robust record of sales activities for future analysis

Cons

  • Salesforce CMS is not very intuitive and the experience can feel like a feature overload
  • The user experience requires SO MANY clicks for everything leading the interface to feel a bit cumbersome
  • There are multiple ways to find a similar piece of information -- sometimes I'm not sure if that's a good thing
  • It has been invaluable for our bizdev tracking and forcasting
The main opportunity is to simplify the interface to create a more intuitive and user friendly experience.

Do you think Salesforce CMS delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Salesforce CMS's feature set?

No

Did Salesforce CMS live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Salesforce CMS go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Salesforce CMS again?

Yes

Salesforce CMS is a great tool for sales/business development needs. However, it's the only tool I've used for this particular need, so I don't have a great comparison. While Salesforce CMS has gotten the job done for us, it required a long ramp to ensure that all team members were using the tool in the same way (i.e. using the same definition for funnel/stage categorizations to move leads through, consistently filling out the same data for each card, and using the same method to create cards). Because there are just SO MANY features and data fields in the tools, users of the tool were always concerned that not doing it correctly could impact the quality of our resulting data. It feels like Salesforce CMS still has a ways to go in making the experience more intuitive and user friendly -- the only word that comes to my mind is simplification. I think that would make a huge difference.
