Overall Satisfaction with VMware vRealize Automation, with SaltStack Config
Right now SaltStack & SaltStack SecOps are being used within multiple departments. We have been using them to manage a large fleet of systems at scale. We are using them both as an Event Engine/Configuration management system as well as a tool for governance and vulnerabilities. It works very well for both uses.
Pros
- Event engine/configuration.
- Vulnerability reporting.
- Compliance.
Cons
- It's growing fast, so stability.
- It has allowed my team to be able to manage large scale systems.
- It has allowed us to have a central viewpoint on the health of our systems.
- Puppet Enterprise (formerly Puppet Data Center Automation)
SaltStack is a newer product, so it learned some of the mistakes that Puppet made. It truly is a system that can respond to events as well as configure systems.
