Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Network

SAP Business Network is used for procurement process where it combines the Purchasers with the Vendors. There are a lot of B2B transactions happening and it is used in many fields like Supply Chain & Operations, Plant Maintenance & Asset Management and logistics as well. Comparing to the previous experiences it helped a lot to our customers gaining a good experience especially in the procurement cycle.
  • Creates a network between different partners (buyers, sellers etc.)
  • Improves the visibility for the processes
  • Digitalize the Procure-to-Pay cycle
  • In some cases, it promises a lot but still lacks more partners joined to the network
  • Being the pioneer, the idea behind the product can be confusing sometimes
  • It is still not accessible for all kinds of markets (especially small and mid sizes)
  • I think it is still a little bit overpriced
  • It still provides a positive impact on Procurement side because of the campaigns the Sellers provide
  • Once it completes the partner network, it will definitely worth to have
Since we are not directly using SAP Business Network and instead implementing it and providing consulting services I cannot comment on this. However I hear positive feedbacks very often from our clients. They usually highlight the fact that it improves the experience especially for the end users using SAP for procurement process because the legacy applications usually lacks the UX.
I think in the world we live in, currently we have bigger risks which cannot be solved only by any software when it comes to Supply Chain.
SAP Business Network especially helps on the Plant Maintenance site where it is especially used for indirect procurement and MRO materials. It brings a lot of visibility in order to understand the potential vendors and service providers. Combining it with the OEM side will be one step further to get closer to the Full Cycle Digitalization Experience.

I think it promises a lot especially on Asset Management. Because it just not only support the procurement for MRO materials but also helps on the service side as well. Also having integrations with Asset Intelligence Network, it has a lot potential for collaborations with different kinds of partners (OEM, Service Providers, Customers etc.)
