Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Network

Adopted SAP Guided Buying and Commerce Automation membership for a better transparency and faster collaboration with the suppliers + an easier ordering of a back-office suppliers.

Pros

  • Ensures compliant PRs
  • Prompt process execution towards the suppliers
  • Easy marketplace-like purchasing via GB interface

Cons

  • A broader availability of Spotbuy catalog
  • More straightforward supplier enablement for Commerce automation adoption
  • An AI adoption to ensure buying channel automation
  • Complexity of supplier enablement for those who wish to transact via Commerce Automation
  • Major volume of integrations required to setup the process, especially the complexity of integrity with a 3rd party backend
Collaboration is definitely more efficient and compliant due to less errors in general through all of the involved documents, but at the same time suppliers keep resisting from joining the network because they find it complex compared to their common tools, so that requires a little extra motivational tools to ensure collaboration.
It eases an auditing process of each purchase as you can go backward from the invoice to PR and check what has happened on each step on the way.
Because of a standardized templates it's easier to validate what is happening through the process and a big volume of transactions is a lot easier to check.
It's a great system that allows to dig deeper into a lot of important purchasing related problems and adopt better practices business-wise.

Yes

Yes

Did implementation of SAP Business Network go as expected?

No

Would you buy SAP Business Network again?

Yes

For indirect procurement needs its a perfect solution as once you enable enough frame agreements and the supplier for the transaction purpose it becomes a one-stop shop for everyone within the organization. As a downside, a lot of issues can happen with a direct procurement adoption as SLAs are still pretty long and lack of customization limits the number of direct processes that could be executed.
