Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

The BTP allows us to develop applications with SAP Fiori and to build the next generation of UI apps. The development environment of Business Application Studio, as well as many other services like Integration Suite and the possibilities of extensions, are making the Business Technology Platform a great experience for developers. The platform is well-designed to find all the necessary services to build or extend the requirements of our customers.

Pros

Cons

  • Too many services to choose.
  • Missing integration with IAC.
  • Too many naming changes.
  • Better development with BAS.
  • Faster deployments.
  • Better control of services.
So we built various Fiori Apps before on the Web IDE, which was on the old NEO environment. There we had various problems with the configuration of the IDEs and the deployment was not that fast for an on-premise system. Thanks to the new solution with the BTP and Business Application Studio, we now have these problems not anymore and can deploy much faster and deliver the product faster to the customer.
Unlike the Azure Portal, the SAP Business Technology Platform offers way more services in the area of Business Technology and Processes, which are already pre-built. In addition, thanks to the experience of SAP in this area, the customers can profit with easier migration to the Cloud thanks to similar processes.

It is perfect for the development of SAP Fiori apps. This allows it to easily build applications via the cloud and publish them directly there or on an on-premise system. On the other side, for some customers, some services are way too expensive, especially when it comes to integration services like the Integration Suite. Therefore, it may not be the ideal part for them, although the service might be a best case.
