Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

Within my organization we have needed to use SAP Business Technology Platform with multiple different clients as well as within our business itself. This means we have needed to integrate with multiple systems to varying degrees. With SAP Business Technology Platform, we have been able to speed up development processes allowing us to get a product out to our clients faster and prototype in house for learning.

Pros

  • Easy integration with AI through Joule
  • Fast and easy set up
  • Consistent UX between apps to make it easier to understand

Cons

  • Difficult when having to work with multiple clients. I need to log out, or into a different browser.
  • Slow reactivity at times
  • More customization
  • Decreased build times for complex Fiori apps
  • Quick turn around of demo apps to show to business shareholders
  • Improved connectivity to other SAP products that are usually quite difficult to connect to
When developing on the SAP GUI if you do not remember a specific transaction it can delay development even if by a little. But with SAP Business Technology platform it is much easier to get to each tool. The SAP specific wording is difficult for people who are just starting out however since it's not as straight forward for them.
I have not seen or used any of the use cases
SAP Business Technology Platform has a lot of power for integrating SAP products together compared to a traditional IDE like Eclipse. However, there are many reasons people would prefer Eclipse even if they are required to go through extra steps to develop something. But if someone used SAP Business Technology Platform a bit more they would continue to use that instead of Eclipse.

When developing for business or customer who has unique landscape it's easy to integrate to the system and develop with SAP Business Technology Platform. When developing within it however, it can be quite difficult to revert certain changes compared to the standard SAP GUI. These are rare and far between but can occur.
