Overall Satisfaction with SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform

SAP BusinessObjects is the transaction level detail query platform within the organization - we have trained and continuously train users on BusinessObjects for self-service mode so that they can generate and customize their own queries without depending on a central IT team. It is very prolifically used within the organization as we are a highly analytics driven organization.

Pros

  • Easy to write queries
  • Easy to transfer to Excel and analyze data
  • Customizable queries can be written

Cons

  • One area is the ability to do graphs within BusinessObjects without transferring to Excel
When we did the implementation in 2005, BusinessObjects was by far the most advanced transactional level analytical query engine that was available.
When there is a data warehouse that stores data, BusinessObjects can be linked to the data warehouse and a detailed line item level transactional query can be done by users once trained without relying on central IT.
