Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integration Suite

As an SAP Partner, we implement SAP Integration Suite at our customers. The business problems solved is connectivity and bridging data formats as well as orchestration of flows of data, between Enterprise systems.
The scope is everything within the SAP Integration Suite. PO, CPI, API-M, Edge integration cell etc.

Pros

  • More user friendly than PO in terms of orchestrating and ease of integrating multiple systems as part of one integration
  • Handling of security items
  • Adapter scope

Cons

  • MIssing auto scalability. It's a cloud service, but as a customer you really need to be on top of the monitoring of resource consumption
  • Monitoring of infrastructure is extremely limited, and the product does crash, where the customer find themselves locked in SAP OSS support cases with sometimes days of response time.
  • Monitoring capabilities have greatly improved recently, and we welcome SAP to continue this path. As partners, we understand it's not desirable to expose how the Cloud infrastructure is performing, but for many years, customers have lacked the equivalent of Wily Introscope to analyse resource issues. It's getting better. Don't be afraid to share infrastructure insights.
  • EOIO is still on the roadmap! Local file connectivity is on the roadmap for Edge Integration Cell. These have been a long time coming, and one of the reasons you see PO customers migrate to competition like Boomi.
  • The mapping tool is not preferred by most developers.
  • This is only visible for the customer. We are a partner.
The customers benefit from not having to adhere to the strict pipeline of SAP PO - although something similar is cooking in the cloud integration world now ;)
It's more like the obvious next step after PO, and Cloud integration cates for roughly the same things as PO did. We hardly see customers going to CPI without having PO already.
Not really yet. Expecting AI in flow design to be quite interesting.

Do you think SAP Integration Suite delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with SAP Integration Suite's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP Integration Suite live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP Integration Suite go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy SAP Integration Suite again?

Yes

Well suited for SAP-to-SAP integrations, especially in order to incorporate end2end monitoring via Cloud ALM.
Less appropriate for ETL of course. We are currently experiencing that the Cloud Integration product does not scale as smooth as wanted, during PO to CPI migration tracks. Developer guidelines for when to use which patterns are sometimes difficult to enforce on a global scale of a company, thus leading to iflows consuming resources and exhausting the tenants performance. In these cases, we still struggle to find the root cause. Built in issues in splitter/gather patterns which we discovered as per learn by experience.
