Overall Satisfaction with SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence
We have used SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) for Integration with Shop floor machines, PLCs, SCADA, DCS, OPC systems using SAP Plant connectivity module and top floor systems with SAP ERP, production planning, quality management, plant maintenance, warehouse management systems. Also we used intelligence layer for reports, dashboards, OEE, condition based maintenance. Overall MII in combination with ME used as a MES.
Pros
- Integration with any standard and non standard applications
- Any custom solutions can be built on top of MII for any manufacturing companies
- Seamless connectivity with machines
Cons
- MII is a system to build custom solutions which may not solve industry 4.0 solutions
- SSCE component is not really a no code low code platform
- Standard OEE module is very complex to implement
- MII is one of the highly successful products in manufacturing space from SAP
- Operations always got benefit out of it from a single system
- Customizations to Meet unique requirements are always possible
SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) is a old system from SAP with end of mainstream maintenance planned in 2027. Hence, I recommend customers to move forward with SAP Digital Manufacturing migration. It has no real upgrade since 2021.
