Overall Satisfaction with ShieldSquare Bot Prevention Solution
We use ShieldSquare to detect and prevent bot traffic and to detect users who try to download content from our website using automated programs (site rippers) like HTTrack.
- Bot detection is great, goes far beyond checking user agents or requests/second.
- Lots of integration options. You can use connectors in your code (php, javascript, etc) or in your webserver (nginx, etc.)
- Support is awesome.
- Supply precompiled versions of nginx with the ShieldSquare connector.
- Difficult to put an exact number on it, but ShieldSquare helps us to prevent people stealing our content that might end up on torrent sites etc.
When I compared these two products, Distil Networks only offered a solution where their bot detection sits in between your website and the visitors, similar to how Cloudflare works. I didn't want this so I decided to go for ShieldSquare that uses connectors. I want my visitors to hit the website directly, not have something sit in between.
