Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shift allows me to have a almost true native app for gmail experience on my Mac. It allows me to separate my workspaces, for personal, my business and each of my clients businesses without risking losing track. Each workspace has all the Google workspace pieces and many other apps that I can add.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Separation and clarity of workspaces
notifications per account
easy switching
multiple apps and plugins

Cons

when I open a link into chrome I want it to open in the associated profile window not the last used window of any profile
I would like it to be easier to configure notifications and badge counts per workspace and contributing to the app count

Return on Investment

Increased Productivity - reduces time spent on non-useful activities
reduced stress - easy to find what you need any time

Integration

I've primarily used Google Workspaces and Gmail and not tried Outlook.
I've used many apps added in. Asana, Click-up, Slack, Medium, Godaddy, Zoho CRM among others and have found it to be very useful for the separation of accounts. Some of these I have simply used to keep some of my personal apps more isolated from my work laptop.

Productivity

it's made context switching less of a problem, less confusing and more controlled. Without making it a difficult process

Usability

Initial setup and time to value is great, as you add more workspaces the time to understand how you need to set up the settings takes longer

Likelihood to Recommend

Ahead of the alternatives and much better than having to find the window with the right gmail and/or calendar and hope that it is in a window assigned to the right profile - a problem for the non-managed workspaces.
If you are only separating work from home this may not add much value, but if you are handling 3 or more workspaces it increases in value dramatically
