Overall Satisfaction with Snagit
I use Snagit on an occasional basis when the need to provide imagery comes up. I used it extensively while learning a CAD program and for consulting support. I also use it to record any number of absurdities that arise on websites that are supposed to provide customer support.
Pros
- It's very useful for sharing in a variety of formats
- It can be used to create a process video
- It's relatively inexpensive
Cons
- The annotation and editing tools are clunky
- The interface is unattractive and uninspired
- Trying to do anything more than the basic task of taking a screenshot is a nuisance.
- In this scenario, there's no meaningful impact positive or negative on the ROI. That's all there is to say.
Skitch is a better interface but limited. I'm presently turning to CloudApp for much of what I need done as it's easier. The only positive or at least potentially positive aspect of Snagit is if they manage to make the editing tools and interface more efficient and pleasing to the eye.
