Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)
We use SolarWinds IP Address Manager to keep track of our IP management since that can be a job in itself. Keeping tabs on IP address spaces is vital to keep a network running smoothly. While SolarWinds free IP Address Tracker is not as powerful as the paid IPAM, it keeps IP addressing organized. And it is simple to use and very friendly.
- IP Address Tracker will allow you to scan multiple subnets
- Display if those addresses are used, available, or reserved
- Also, the fact you can export to Excel for spreadsheets and such awesome features are a plus
- Very simple and easy to use
- The web console needs a little work
- Uses too many resources for database
- Some compatibility issues with SQL Server
- Not user-friendly unless you work on it or if that was your only job.
- Positive: has worked great for us due to the size of our network for IP management. No need to keep spreadsheets or do Ip management manually.
- Keeps a database current
- Negative: it's very pricey and tech support needs a little improvement
OpManager was the first one we had for a while. It did the job for which it was intended. It did not keep a systematic IP management like SolarWinds IPAM but it did the job okay. So as time passed, our network was getting larger so we needed to look for something to run automatically and keep up with the IP changes happening at a fast rate. OpManager was not able to keep up with our growth. License cost was going up, but it was not worth the money for the little we were getting out of it. So we decided to move to another product and we chose SolarWinds.
