Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)
IPAM is used by the network services team. We use it to monitor and address rogue clients attached to both the internal and external networks in our infrastructure. It provides detailed information as to clients, mac address, and IP. IPAM makes our lives easier by tracking down lost devices as well as identifying intruders' addresses that are currently connected to our environment. IPAM is effective and easy to use overall.
- MAC address lookup
- Matching IP address to device name
- Search functionality
- The search could be quicker.
- SolarWinds does not always discover the latest MAC/IP of a device.
- The interface could be easier to navigate to.
- Super easy to track down a missing End point device.
- IPAM has saved us hundreds of hours of tracking down devices and their location within our building and without it, we would probably be in trouble from our higher-ups.
- IPAM provides such an easy to use interface that despite the up-front cost it is always worth the investment when trying to save time keeping track of all kinds of devices (Linux, Windows Server, Windows 10 Pro, etc.).
NinjaRM, in my opinion, has a clunky and outdated user interface. IPAM is fast, reliable, and always gets the job done in a timely manner saving my workforce hours.
I highly recommend IPAM over any alternative due to its thorough design, ease of use, and overall seamless integration with all operating systems.
