Overall Satisfaction with SOLIDWORKS

We design and engineer using the software for consumer products and packaging (vac forms etc).
  • File Organization
  • Hot Key Programming
  • Rendering through Visualizer
  • The user interface can look very busy sometimes compared to Inventor
  • There are annual updates and sometimes the redesign of the interface is difficult to get used to
  • Very expensive and you have to be on a subscription
  • Creates internal production drawing for lean production
  • Can simulate real-life materials and conduct stress tests, making sure the final design is perfect
  • The software offers turnkey solutions, from design, modeling, drawings, and rendering
It's very good. SolidWorks has a great marketing budget and really reaches college students. My loyalty actually is to Inventor by AutoDesk, but honestly, they do the same things equally as well. I think that the user interface is better in Inventor and allows me to be faster, but not by very much!
I can't begin to explain the amount of clarity this software brings to my company. Everything is modeling to scale with detailed production drawings and I use the same file to produce stunning renderings and animations.
