Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were originally using the old Sophos UTM but upgraded to the XG several years ago. We are using it for several functions, including web content filtering, wireless access point management, VPN, and firewalling. We've had good experiences with it thus far, it was a little rough upon release but has gotten significantly better over time. It's also been a pretty reliable device, we use two of them at one of our locations (one is dedicated for VPN use) and we use another at a separate location for a total of 3 we are using.

Alternatives Considered

We have been a Sophos customer for the most part but i have seen some other offerings from SonicWall, Barracuda, and Cisco. While they all offer nice products, we've always been content with our Sophos XG firewalls, especially as they release more and more features/etc.

The XG is an affordable device that offers many features for small to medium businesses allowing them to get a ton of functionality out of one device instead of buying several. We use it for quite a few things and when we've needed support they have been able to help us there as well.
