SQL is a great tool for smaller quick checks. When trying to monitor several different environments, applications, APIs, several thousand devices, connections, and technology, it just doesn't stand up to what you need. Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring has really stood out quickly because of an all-around solution to our entire monitoring system.

We use real-time visibility and alerting as our sole way to keep our infrastructure up and running. Creating dashboards, tickets, and troubleshooting steps all in one system has led to quicker turnaround times. The Out of box integrations such as Google, Azure, AWS, Amazon, or Hadoop makes it easy to catch the entire system.
Our organization uses Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring in many different ways. We can use SSO (single sign-on) integrations, third party, or token authentications. Each department has its own individual way to access needed information from Splunk. I don't set up these types of services so I'm unfamiliar with specific details but having the ability to create and manage teams and users makes it highly safe.
We keep our data for several months which allows us to create trending reports, dashboards, and alerts. This is helpful when creating a baseline and to catch those anomalies you wouldn't otherwise know about. Knowing the baseline of an alert allows you to modify and properly set the priority for future alerts.
