Overall Satisfaction with SQL Sentry Performance Advisor

We use SQL Sentry Performance Advisor to monitor our production databases. We only use it in the IT department and have four users that have access to the software. We were looking for a product to monitor and give us a deeper look into where our performance was taking a hit while our customers are accessing the data within our database. SQL Sentry Performance Advisor has been an invaluable tool.

Pros

  • Give insight into which individual disks are being utilized in a process.
  • Granular look at why a deadlock occurred and which queries failed because of it.
  • Able to pull specific reports to better understand bottlenecks and where performance could be gained.

Cons

  • The alerting UI is cumbersome. Difficult to navigate and find what I'm looking for. Not very intuitive.
