Overall Satisfaction with StarWind HyperConverged Appliance (HCA)

We were looking to expand our virtual environment and VMware was too costly of a solution so we were looking to move to HyperV since we are already a primarily Microsoft shop. We were looking for something reliable but also wouldn't break the bank. StarWind was able to provide high end hardware and support for a great price.
  • Easy to use and deploy
  • Great service and support
  • Failover and live migration are quick
  • We haven't run into any issues with the product in the time we've used it
  • Less after hours time needed to patch the servers with failover
  • Virtual machines are stable and hardware works well
  • Support and service takes one more thing off our teams plate
Anytime we've been notified about a node going down is usually on us rebooting or incorrectly shutting down the machine. Each time that this has happened support has emailed us almost instantly to check on things and provide support if required.
We have had zero downtime since moving to this solution. Even for patching we can run everything off of two nodes and patch each node during business hours without the end users being aware anything is happening.
Main reason for swapping away from VMware was cost. Our servers at the point of swapping away from VMware were already old so performance wasn't a consideration. We wanted to have something that Microsoft already provided so being able to leverage HyperV was a solid sell for us.

If you're looking for a solution that is a reasonable price with very good hardware then StarWind is great for that. Being a small team it is extremely helpful anytime we can leverage support for a vendors product. Anytime we have questions or a need arises their support is very quick is responding. They are also very quick to respond if they notice a node goes down on their end. We're currently running a 3 node setup and the expandability is there for us. They feel like a great solution for a medium sized business.
