Overall Satisfaction with Symantec Endpoint Security

We use Symantec Endpoint Security for a long time. It meets all our security needs. Symantec Endpoint Security acts as a one platform for endpoint protection, combining prevention, detection, and response to address modern cybersecurity challenges while aligning with business goals like cost reduction and compliance. It includes antivirus, client firewall and intrusion preventions. With it's device protection, controlling the devices plugged into the end-user machine with the device protection feature is really important in terms of security .

Pros

  • Restricting USB usage to prevent data exfiltration. With this we stop employees from using unauthorized USB devices.
  • It blocks malicious email attachments or direct downloads
  • It's behavioral analysis stop unknown ransomware
  • Integration with other tools.

Cons

  • Management Server GUI should be improve
  • Integration with cloud native applications
  • It consume lot of end point resource
  • There is no blocking when you exceed the license limit. This is very important for us.
  • One of negative impact is performance lag on older devices disrupts workflows.
  • Blocking USB based threats (e.g., Autorun.inf) prevents data exfiltration or malware spread.
The rating reflects Symantec Endpoint Security's ability to balance enterprise grade security with user-friendly workflows or advanced configurations require extra effort. For most organizations, the streamlined management and robust automation justify the high score. Management GUI is old fashined and need to be improve. Older devices may experience slowdowns during full scans without careful configuration.

A file often exploited by malware to auto-execute malicious code when USB devices are plugged in. When a USB device is connected to an end-user machine, we need to blocking the Autorun.inf file. This was done using Symantec Endpoint Security in an extremely easy way. As a result, a significant security risk was eliminated.
