Overall Satisfaction with Teamcenter

Teamcenter in my organization is used for maintaining the complete digital part lifecycle ranging from creating new manufactured parts or purchased parts, the complete history of all the modifications made on the part in the form of different part revisions, saving the CAD files be it 3D model or 2D drawings. It is also used to releasing the new part or part revisions along with having the capability to obsolete old parts. It helps in perfect synchronization between design team, manufacturing team and purchase team.

Pros

  • We have designed some assembly in the CAD software. Now, Teamcenter efficiently assigns the part number when we check in the design, and once check-in, we can access the design from any other system across the organization.
  • Once the design team releases the design using a Change Notice in Teamcenter, the manufacturing and purchase teams, immediately gets a notification and they can start working on procuring and manufacturing the required parts.
  • During the entire product lifecycle, there are numerous updates to each parts, and a part of Continuous Product Improvement, we can add type of update to an old part in Teamcenter, and release it as a part revision.

Cons

  • For the new users, Teamcenter seems to be quite overwhelming and it is quite difficult for any newly joined person to learn it quickly. Teamcenter can work on proving a user friendly interface and detailed training modules.
  • Sometimes, Teamcenter has lagging issues which interrupts the productivity of entire team. It works too slow sometimes, but with the new release of Teamcenter, they are improving on this issue.
  • Teamcenter should also simplify the release workflow for releasing any part. Currently, it is too complex.
  • Teamcenter being an efficient PLM tools, supports different cross functional teams very well and directly affects the business as it helps in on time delivery of machines.
Teamcenter is meant to be a tool for handling large and large assemblies and in order to do so, Teamcenter has specific setting and tools which handles large assemblies involving thousands of parts with a great ease. So with this feature, I think Teamcenter can be scaled or used in any organization and in my organization as well, the complete organization is using only one PLM tool which none other than Teamcenter.
Earlier, some of the companies acquired by my organization were using PTC Windchill, but the overall stability, user experience and depth of functionality which are provided by Teamcenter doesn't match with any other PLM software and thus, all the acquired companies which were earlier using PTC Windchill has now slowly started into moving towards Teamcenter.

Do you think Teamcenter delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Teamcenter's feature set?

Yes

Did Teamcenter live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Teamcenter go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Teamcenter again?

Yes

I highly recommend Teamcenter, as Teamcenter is one of the most popular and fully functional PLM software. Once an engineer gets thoroughly trained in using the software, they helps the entire team in product development phase and even after product is developed, other teams uses it for procuring and manufacturing the parts. It is well suited for releasing electrical, mechanical and software products. I have not come across any scenarios where Teamcenter is less appropriate.
