I have used Teamcenter for editing our product's data and processes such as 3D designs, embedded software, and documentation. We normally used to face huge problems related to our product life cycles as the clients usually tend to change most times. Teamcenter helps us to communicate and make a great team with the clients as well.

Earlier, our company had so many issues related to managing and controlling the Product lifecycle, which leads to long and irritating time-consuming. The prime focus of using Teamcenter is to manage the Product's lifecycle with ease and its free trial is really beneficial to understand its basic features for us as well.
Teamcenter is really beneficial for any Product based companies and can show some remarkable progress as well. Teamcenter's features like PLM is the heart of the technology and is really simple to use as well. However, I would recommend a tutorial for new users as well. But, overall Teamcenter helped us to design our Product life cycle with ease.

Is a tool so rich in functions and capabilities to work with CAD is so easy to use is already a valuable advantage for us. The menu design is good as well as its user interface in general. It integrates very useful tools for CAD management, saving a lot of time and effort for our work team, for example, tools to rotate, measure, transform, position, move, displace, and much more. Being web-based, it allows us to save disk memory and is available for use from any computer.
  • It is an easy-to-use tool and integrates many capabilities to manage CAD better than any other tool.
  • It is used by many companies with a great global presence and that has generated confidence for us when we decided to try it, the results have been satisfactory.
  • The user interface of this tool is not complex, it is easy to navigate and integrates a lot of functionalities that speed up our work significantly; as well as functionalities such as sectioning, displacing, moving, positioning, transforming, among others that have a lot to do with CAD management.
  • It works via the web through the browser, so it is not necessary to download any application that takes up space and more resources on the computer.
  • That it is web-based I really like it but sometimes it is a problem, especially when trying to download or open large files. Moreover, some tools are difficult to locate in the menu.
It is easy to use and its functionalities are of great help for engineers to do an excellent job when working with CAD in 3D models. In terms of support, it is very good, their team is attentive and responsive. In terms of cost, it is a little high but it is fair, it is a very good tool.
The support is helpful and attentive to providing any information needed by its users.

We are using it for different phases of the products lifecycle from Product Planning, Introduction, Growth, Maturity, and decline. We are updating everything about the product from reports to design specifications of it on PLM Teamcenter so that everyone in the organization can know about it. This is all my experience with the software.
  • It is state-of-the-art software you can plan your entire Product Lifecycle begging from idea to maturity or decline.
  • Very simple to use and has almost all functionalities that one would require.
  • It can be easily integrated to several applications providing seamless experience.
  • Folder option is a bit difficult to locate.
  • Incompatible drivers of some integrated video cards.
  • Execution of workflows is lengthy process.
Our company is leading in warehouse automation, it has a very wide verity of models with different capacity, so to track and manage better product workflow, upload design of parts, BOM of parts, ERP of parts add, upload different trail data of different models so that in future needed can compare with old data.
Because of the features, I have explained software is seriously awesome based on my experience. I am using this software for the last 5 years and I have faced several issues with different software. But when it comes to team center I can proudly say this is the best software I have ever used.

Teamcenter is the heart of our product data management as well as the product lifecycle management, we have well defined workflows for each type of objects which are being created inside the Teamcenter as well as the other linked applications.
Teamcenter makes our life a lot more easier to track and trace the engineering changes which were done at different milestones of the project or during the lifetime of the product.

the turn around time is less than a day if it is a repeated issue where we have predefined solutions, if there are issue for which there are no existing solutions, they either consult the IT experts within our company or get in touch with Siemens for additional support.

Definition of new use cases or adapting the Teamcenter environment or bug fixes are handled as internal projects and implementation of fixes or the updates are done in a predefined phases in timely manner

One of the best products from Siemens for PLM. It is the best of PLM known as Product Lifecycle Management Software available these days. It is very heavy software, a bit complex & dynamic software. One should be trained to use it properly and efficiently. But it is best to plan and roll out any product.

It is best for product planning, introduction, growth, maturity, and decline that is complete product lifecycle management. It is very complex software, one should have good training for efficient use. It is a bit expensive as well. The worst part is it required really stable and good connectivity to work properly. It can be less expensive.
It is a bit complex to use, but very dynamic software. You have to learn how to use every feature it gives you. It is a little more costly than other PLM software. Once you have integrated it with your servers you can not use it from a remote location. Anyways, it is the best product lifecycle management software available in the market.

It has been used in global development sites. Until now, development has been carried out at each site, but in order to develop in a global collaboration, information must be centrally managed.
  • Stability: Less than 1 hour of continuous downtime for 6 years
  • A function that can manage multiple CAD data and divert the data
  • Search speed is slow.
Suitable for organizational management including multiple organizations or overseas bases.
I've run into bugs several times in the past, and the issue has been resolved through an IT vendor. There are no issues currently on hold.

Teamcenter does a very good job in ensuring a co-operative and comfortable environment in all our work. The cloud-based solution focuses on a rapid restoration of data for various commercial functions, such as planning, development, production and support. Teams can make better and informed decisions because they are available to project data. Using Teamcenter allowed our team to share data and other streamlined works rapidly and more easily. It offers a comfortable workspace to all our teammates.

  • It is not easy to administer Teamcenter. The Backend really needs to be led into a Windows format.

Teamcenter is used to obtain computers design models (CAD) and Bill of Materials (BOM) data directly from the Business Administration System and create manual structure. Teamcenter is a very useful software for any organization that works in multiple sites or works on more than one product. It is really useful to be able to track and organize the process or any information related to the product or the process at any time by any individual employee of the organization. It is particularly slow to launch and run, and it's less appropriate when it comes to using tools that require Java.
It is an information bank for multinational companies. You can share and find any information or data about projects and different products. You can upload any report or data on any event or process and anyone from anywhere in the world from the same server and you can access it.The latest release of Teamcenter, has added support for three more authoring applications, enabling you to extend PLM document and process support to new users. Customers implementing Microsoft Office Online Server and Teamcenter Office Online Server provide their users with immediate access to content in the Active Workspace universal viewer. Users can check out the file with a single click and start editing in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

We're updating everything about the product on PLM Teamcenter, from reports to design specs, so that everyone in the company is aware of it. We also use it for document management, Data management like drawing & CAD.

It offers a varied list of features and capabilities that can be used for various purposes like designing and creating a prototype.

  • Sometimes the surface measurements are not accurate.
  • Opening big files, using the mockup.
  • Configuration can sometimes be confusing.
With the help of Teamcenter, it was convenient for us to design the prototype for 3D visualization and also for CAD analysis. It was very beginner-friendly, as when we first switched to Teamcenter, it was easy for us to determine the various tools and then move ahead with the designing and analysis.
The documentation is great and detailed and there is support available for this application online. Therefore it becomes very easy for users to navigate and not spend much time trying to learn.

We are Using Teamcenter in our organization for the last 7 months, we are in the business of System integration, primarily we use it for Bill of Material (BOM) Management, Documentation, and for keeping track of our products in inventory and for program planning, implementation and execution of the project and for also one most important aspect which is managing and keeping eye on service lifecycle Its one of the best PLM Software in the market.
  • As per our business requirement, it does BOM management very efficiently and accurately.
  • Service lifecycle management helped us in tracking asset performance from a service point of view and planning & execution of the same.
  • Its product cost management tool helped us in the calculation of accurate costing for our offered products.
  • It would be better if its functionality can be used fluently even with the system/PC with lower configurations.
  • User interface can be more interactive/optimized regarding designing features.
  • People need to learn how to use every feature it gives and it's expensive in comparison to other PLM software.
We can say it is one of the best Product Lifecycle Management software having features efficient enough for BOM management, Service lifecycle management, software design, and asset management, basically, it's software that can be used to plan the entire product lifecycle from Idea to maturity or decline, one can share and find information and data regarding projects, products and services at a single place there is room for improvement in terms of its user interface.
It's quite an interesting Software for organizations, which is shaving multiple features of Product Life cycle Management, BOM management, Program planning and execution, quality compliance, service lifecycle management, flexibility to use it via on-premise, SAAS, on cloud and this software has the flexibility to adapt according to business changes and manage the challenges during product development lifecycle.

We used it for defining the phases of a product's lifecycle. This helped eliminate the ambiguity associated. We also updated everything about the product reports and created customized design specifications on PLM Teamcenter allowing them to be shared with the entire organization.

Teamcenter by Siemens is a great software for any organization which works on multi-site working or is suitable for working on more than one product. It's really helped a lot in tracking and organising the process or any information regarding the product or process at any point in time by any employees of the organisation. Teamcenter is really a superb tool because it fits into most organisation existing processes.

Teamcenter tool works great to give me access to documents and information across multisite and multi-national locations Teamcenter manages large data very easily and well. It helps me to collaborate securely and easily with my colleagues at all facilities. It helps me a lot in creating the data and managing the data. For me, it's very easy to use, user-friendly, cost-effective, and time-saving.
In Teamcenter, the user interface is much better than any other tool and easy to understand for everyone. In Teamcenter, the Structure Manager shows and manages BOM in the best possible manner. It gives you the freedom to choose what you want to view like a dynamic perspective or any other perspective. Teamcenter removes all the problems of storing CAD files or documents on a local drive which can get very convoluted if it's not controlled correctly.

If you need to develop or design a product, Teamcenter comes in as very useful. You can visualise the product in both 2D and 3D. It's also really helpful to process and classify documents and bills. Teamcenter can also be used in a wide range of industries, making the tool really valuable.
Teamcenter does have a user-support service, which can provide tips or help with their functionalities. However, I have never asked for their help so I cannot give you more detail at this time.

Teamcenter is one of the best Product Lifecycle Management software available in the market by Siemens. We are using PLM Teamcenter for creating and tracking all the processes during the product development phase. In Teamcenter, first Design department will upload all the details about products and drawings. In production phase of the new product respected departments access the details of the products and after trail we upload trial reports and other test results of the product on the Teamcenter. We have total 5 plants worldwide and each of them are connected to Teamcenter. There will be some products already making in some plants and some plants are developing it. In this case the plant which is developing the products can access the reports of other plants and make preparations accordingly.
  • You can search any documents by its name and number.
  • You can see who is owner of the documents and who edited it last.
  • You can upload any form of documents like Word, pdf or drawing files in our case which is Solid Edge files.
  • For some confidential documents you can also restrict vies to only selected persons.
  • It is useful for creating and accessing BOM and other particulars.
  • It is a little difficult to use this software. You will be needing some kind of guidance in beginning.
  • You can't access all type of files from one search methods, for different type of files you will have to search filters like keywords, part code, etc.
  • If your Teamcenter is connected to server you can not access it remotely.
  • Sometimes you have to encrypt the file before editing it.
  • Environment could be little more user friendly.
  • Cost is a little more.
It is well suited for large organizations and where there is more than one plan operating on the same products. If you have to develop products frequently and there is a tremendous amount of data to be shared and collected. It is useful when you want every data and reports to access easily and in one place. You can also use it where is needed to update data and notify the change to everyone. You should not go with it if you are a small organization and you don't need to develop products frequently. If you don't have too many documents or data to share you should use a server or mail for it.
It is a product from Siemens so you should not worry about its quality or support. In starting we needed some advice and the technical team was always there to guide us in any situation. You can trust this product blindly for your organization. You will get a quite good experience. It is a very good investment to be done for better prosperity of your organization.

Our engineering department has been using Siemens PLM software since 2010. NX (formerly known as Unigraphics; UGS) is a powerhouse CAD package that has helped us achieve our goals for modeling, drafting, and CNC programming. It is incredibly powerful and is suited well for working with the complexity associated with aerospace components. To manage our files, we use Teamcenter. Teamcenter provides a vehicle to keep track of file revisions, workflows, etc.
  • NX offers powerful modeling capabilities, and is able to handle very complex geometry.
  • The Drafting package within NX is world-class. The quality and ease of use of producing blueprints are better than most any other software I have worked with.
  • Teamcenter is integrated with the NX system, to ensure control over file revisions and workflows.
  • The help that I have received when contacting Siemens' technical support (GTAC) is generally prompt, courteous, and usually effective.
  • Within the NX CAD package, there are often various little bugs and glitches that we come across in daily use. We generally submit incident reports to Siemens on these.
  • In general, the Teamcenter software package lacks ease of use, general users within the department require frequent intervention and help from higher users for seemingly simple tasks.
NX is a world-class CAD software used by many of the larger companies in the Aerospace Industry. For larger vendors that deal with these companies, I'd recommend use of NX to maximize compatibility with the engineering models supplied by the customers. However, due to the cost of the software, many smaller companies should earnestly evaluate lower-cost CAD packages, (because many of those may be found to be just as effective for their needs.)

Siemens PLM Software, Teamcenter, is used across our entire organisation to manage the entire product lifecycle. Data is created by the designers and engineers, it is then made manufacturable by process engineers, and manufactured by operations. The entire process is done within the software suite and allows full traceability of the product, implemented from cradle to grave. Teamcenter does its job really well and ensures that a product of consistent quality is delivered to an end-user.
  • The software is really well suited for multi-site working due to the strong back-end and collaboration tools.
  • The software is highly configurable meaning that it can fit into most organisations existing processes by means of its configuration. (This is both a major strength and major weakness.
  • The software is built to accommodate multiple simultaneous users, all changing data at the same time, and all doing different things. The system has never crashed on me in this regard and always delivers what is expected.
  • It has too many features built into one software package. Whilst this may be considered an advantage to some, the lack of focus in the package means that there is no clear cut way to use it.
  • As mentioned in the "Pros" section, the configurability of the product is so great that it becomes an advantage. Whilst PLM is intended to enforce best practice in product design and management, the level of configurability means that companies are able to transfer their sub-standard practices into this world-class software and continue making the same mistakes as always.
  • The cost per seat to use it is very high. Whilst PLM is a great product to use, at this price, only enterprise-level customers can afford to use it.
Well suited for:
  • Enterprise companies who want to enforce a specific workflow to get products from concept to production;
  • Companies who have a large workforce that do not talk to each other in person but communicate product data between departments in the form of datapacks.
Not Well Suited for:
  • Companies and individuals who have very few products of which many are very simple. The cost is just not justified for these.
  • Companies without an IT department to manage the Teamcenter software (it is a lot of work and requires a full-time administrator).
As previously mentioned, due to the intense amount of features and modules present in the software, the usability of the software suffers greatly. Many of the features are not used in our context, and many of the modules are not purchased, but the options are still present on the interface leading to a lot of clutter, much of which is never used. The interfaces suffer from a lack of design and tend to feel like a conglomerate of Windows 98 elements.
I have never personally dealt with Siemens customer support, but the consultants who did the initial setup of Siemens PLM (Teamcenter) did a really great job in answering all of our support queries in record time. Many of the queries were directed back to Siemens and answers were given via the consultants; this process never took more than 24 hours and usually solved the problems we had.

We use Teamcenter throughout NOV, as our main PLM/EDC tool.
  • Teamcenter tracks & creates revisions pretty well, but that is after much customization we've done to it.
  • Quite a bit of search power, although very complicated and challenging to use the search features.
  • A database that can be integrated with ERP systems, but that does require much code writing and an SOA system.
  • Document security -- not sure if these features are out-of-the-box or customizations, but this capability is highly valuable to protect IP.
  • Teamcenter is highly buggy, and most bugs are very time consuming to live with. Many bugs have existed for a long time and Siemens has yet to fix them. Examples are extremely slow response for the Windows Explorer plug-in used for adding datasets for document items, views in the viewer getting "stuck" and won't clear even after a full window refresh - solution currently is to close the viewer and reopen it, or sometimes close & reopen Teamcenter; functions that fail one way but work another, such as Teamcenter will freeze up when selecting "save and check in" after an item data edit, but will work fine if the user saves and then does a "right click - check in." Many more examples exist too numerous to list here.
  • Teamcenter is too complex and non-intuitive. This causes a need for a lot of training, and refresh training. Occasional users really struggle because of this, and require a lot of hand-holding by support or admin folks.
  • Also highly unstable, particularly the Java portion, at the Client level. We get a lot of Java errors or Java related errors (some users almost daily - no exaggeration). Java never closes on its own after a user closes Teamcenter, which is normally not a problem unless Teamcenter inadvertently creates a second instance of Java, or otherwise crashes. Also, sometimes apparently related, the various cache folders on the Client machine get corrupt and require the user to clean them out after closing Teamcenter (unless it had already crashed) and restart Teamcenter - this every week or two per user, depending on usage. This all seems to be worse with Windows 10, so perhaps there's a Teamcenter - Java - Windows 10 compatibility issue.
  • Because of the issues mentioned above, Teamcenter requires an inordinate amount of support personnel. We have an entire corporate department dedicated to supporting Teamcenter, and local users who serve as local admins and support.
  • Teamcenter is a very expensive to use, because of the issues expressed here. Many, many man-hours per year are spent supporting this tool, and many, many more man-hours are spent just on dealing with delays due to bugs and inefficiencies.
Not sure where it would be well suited. If Siemens would fix all the bugs, at least, perhaps I could have an opinion here.
While I would shudder to think of the impact of significant changes on our own business (relearning/retraining) simplifying the tool greatly to improve usability and intuitiveness would help make Teamcenter far more useful to many types of businesses needing PLM/EDC software.

Siemens PLM software is being used a company-wide level for engineers and designers to analyze CAD in 3D. Visualization Mockup is the most often element used. This addresses our problem of analysis of design for design reviews and for problem-solving issues.
  • 3D CAD review works really well in VisMockup. It allows for a virtual representation of the product.
  • Sectioning in 2D works well for tolerance checks.
  • The ability to move and rotate components allows engineers to see how the components interact and how they perform in different positions.
  • Measurements are not always accurate and sometimes difficult to take.
  • The user interface needs to be updated and a better arrangement of the icons are needed.
  • Importing and exporting data is cumbersome.
It is well suited in an engineering environment when reviewing CAD data. It is less appropriate to use Vis Mockup when truly accurate measures are needed.

We use Siemens PLM software to manage our Engineering data, including 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and supporting documentation. We have also built our ECN workflow into the system, which gets used by all of our business departments, including Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Accounting, Purchasing, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Easy to navigate
  • Version control of shared documents
  • Electronic workflows and notifications for processing ECNs.
  • Web client for occasional users
  • Easier data migration from other systems
  • Single sign-on integration with Windows Active Directory
Well suited for companies like ours that design and manufacture in-house. I'm not sure it is the best solution for companies that need to share Engineering data to external vendors or partners.

The Engineering Manager wanted to use the software to during our transition from 2D to 3D design. It would primarily be used in our department only at first, and by other departments later. It was very mature software, but at the time we wanted to install locally and what I was given was under powered, so I spent too much time arguing with the IT dept over getting more hardware. It solved all of our design problems in that it tracked EVERYTHING. The biggest problem was that it required a change in discipline by all our designers to track everything instead of using AutoCAD alone. Siemens PLM was great in that respect...

The biggest determination is the size and complexity of the typical 3D model. Does it require NX, or is Solid Edge good enough?
GTAC services were excellent!
It depends on how easy the sysadmin has when customizing it. it can be as easy to use as you want.
It's a very robust and mature tool. The only thing that would make it better is the have a version embrace the cloud, which I'm sure is underway, but it's complicated, so it will take more time. But when it's done, look out. It will be near-perfect!

During my time as a Design Engineer with Graham Packaging Co. I utilized the CAD (NX), CAE (NX FEA/Nastran), and PLM (Teamcenter) software offered by Siemens. My role was to support new and existing business by developing and engineering new package designs to meet our customers needs. The use of Siemens software helped ensure we remained ahead of our competition by improving effciency/throughput, minimzing risk, and providing the tools needed for innovation.
  • NX CAD is a highly customizable software that any designer/drafter can learn in a short period of time. I would consider NX to be one fo the best CAD packages available on the market. The base platform allows for easy integration into other software offered by Siemens, which improves data tranfsers and file integrtiy moving from concept (Studio), CAD (NX), and CAE (NX FEM).
  • NX CAE is a state of the art computer aided engineering software that helped us improve our design decisions and drive our first run capability from concept to production.
  • Siemens PLM is a fully integrated product lifecycle managment software that helps manage design/data, create standard workflows/roles, and drives effciency throughout the organization. It is an off that shelf product that can be implemented into any organziaiton without spending large amounts of money customizing and developing an internal version that will become obsolete in 5-10 years.
  • As with any technical software package the support and buy in from upper managment is critical to drive the implementaiton and culture within the organziation. If support is lacking then the full capabilities and return on investment will not be realized.
  • Some standard functionality/capabilities are embeded into alternate software or require additional licenses to use.

Currently, we are using Teamcenter and NX to allow for better CAD and CAD-BOM management. Engineering is the only department currently using the softwares, although Siemens and third-party developers provide many modules and add-ons to push the data stored in Teamcenter to the Shop Floor and throughout other parts of the organization. Teamcenter removes the headaches of storing CAD files on a local/network drive which can get very convuluted if not controlled correctly.

NX is a good standalone CAD software. Teamcenter, however, should only be used by a company that is willing to put the time/effort/money into properly setting up the system. Otherwise it is more burdensome that it is an asset to the company.
It is a bit buggy and the user interface is ok at best. The amount of features that are possible though with this software are endless.

We use it specifically in engineering department. I am part of the service industry, where I am involved with automotive clients. So my answers are related to my clients' requirements. Siemens PLM addresses data sharing between sites, helps in collaboration between engineering, suppliers and plants.
  • User Interface is much better, and easy to understand
  • Structure Manager shows and manages Bill of Materials (BOM) in a effective manner. Freedom to choose what you want to view -- dynamic perspective
  • Manufacturing Process Planner module is well represented, integration with digital manufacturing tools.
  • Ease of set up and template distribution through BMIDE
  • Ability to handle real life data flow using workflow module
  • Need some more improvements in product documentation. eEasy to get lost in documentation.
  • PLMXML module needs help clues in creating rules, Just like query builder.
  • Viewers ( JT) needs improvements.

It is used as a document repository (includes revision history of documents) and workflow (emails users, accept and reject requests). It also sends information to other systems. It is used by manufacturing to pull documentation. It is used by the power users to accept and reject requests. It fills the gap that other Siemens applications do not fill.
  • The interface of the application is nice!
  • It is too much of a system for the basic needs of the application it is used for. Siemens spec'd and recommended the solution.
  • The system is not very flexible or customizable. It has several limitations that cannot be modified.
  • It is overly complex and difficult for users to understand. It lacks common sense UI functions that do not need a manual to figure out.
I would say it is well suited for industries that require heavy quality control. Companies must be willing to invest into the application and should not expect it to be an out of the box solution.
