Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire

We are using it to manage big data to analyze our assets.
  • Makes it very easy to manage large amounts of data.
  • Interactive dash boarding for effective visualization.
  • Allows linkage to database information for quick timely data access.
  • I would like to see the ability for more robust formatting for visualizations with the ability to format using right click rather than having to pull up properties every time.
  • I think more robust graphical interfaces to representing data and the associated labelling for those graphs. For example an easier way to provide cluster graphs.
  • On the visualization it would be nice to have the ability to hide the headers for the respective choice particularly the 'colour by' options.
Tableau is more user friendly with better formatting capabilities, however Spotfire is far more robust. I would chose Spotfire over Tableau for meeting my reporting and analysis needs.
[Spotfire is well suited] When trying to view drivers and costs for a company where you want to compare the impacts of a change in one driver on the impacts on cost and on other drivers/costs.

Spotfire Training

  • Online training
  • Self-taught
The length of time available to complete the course is too short. Should make software access available for course takers. I took the course but could not access from work, which is the only access I have. My ability to complete the course was hampered as a result.
It is easy for the general learning. For expressions and more complicated items, some level of training or online research was required. I would recommend in classroom and online combined. Learn, practice, learn practice approach.
