Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Spotfire
The tool is being used in my department to show market trends in the commercial aviation space. This helps us look for emerging trends in the market that we may not be aware of.
Pros
- The tool handles large data sets very well with its caching ability
- The tool can export large sets of data for further analysis by our subject matter experts
- The tool loads and saves work in the developer tool relatively fast
Cons
- The tool does not have a very friendly user interface for development.
- The tool does not allow you to customize the UI of the analytics very easily to use your own font, style, color, etc.
- The tool cannot do some things that other tools, like Wave or Tabluea can. Drill down capability isn't always intuitive.
- Wave and Tablue
The mobile capability is far behind and the displays from a standard to wide screen are not very great. The tool can handle large data sets from multiple sources easier than Wave. The tool can also implement calculated fields and control lines, which Wave cannot do yet.

- Self-taught
Not as great as I had hoped for. The online training was not hands-on enough. I dont think it provided me with the tools to create formulas and customize user interface.
