Overall Satisfaction with Unique Learning System
This is the first time I have been provided curriculum to use with my students with disabilities. The Unique Learning System curriculum is awesome because it is already differentiated to three levels and is connected to educational research and state standards.
Pros
- Unique Learning System provides relevant articles with current topics and themes
- Unique Learning System provides content connected to state standards
- Unique Learning System provides life skills lessons and activities to support adults with disabilities.
- Unique Learning System provides 3 differentiated levels including simple passages with symbols, short passages with pictures, and longer passages with pictures.
Cons
- Unique Learning System provides great articles/lessons, teacher guides, and is organized in an easy to use format. My only suggestion for improvement would be to offer these materials in different formats other than PDF, such as Google Slides and an interactive option where students can respond to the slides in a group setting (such as Peardeck or Nearpod). Having these options embedded in Unique Learning System will save teachers many hours of work copying and pasting the content into slideshows and having to spend their classroom budget on expensive apps to provide interactivity.

- The Unique Learning System curriculum simplifies IEP design and goals, because it is aligned to state standards and the Polaris program connected to Unique Learning System will record all the data from completed benchmark assignments which you can copy and paste into your present levels and create new goals.
- Unique Learning System/Polaris tracks student progress and simplifies data tracking and compliance which you can easily share with parents and colleagues to collaborate for the IEP.
Unique Learning System provides a "hub" for all of your teaching needs in one place. It simplifies your planning and tracking by providing pre and post assessments, teacher directions and complete lessons with units, pacing, and shareable progress connected to real time data. This saves teachers many hours of planning and more time for enrichment and IEP creation.
Unique Learning System has helped several of my students who attend virtual classes by providing asynchronous assignments including benchmark assessments.
I am able to see the data as they complete the assignments and it does all the tracking for me to see their progress and areas of growth.
Students can practice the areas they need to work on such as reading and strengthen their deficits through fun activities.

News2You is also very helpful for the differentiated lessons and news articles, with maps of the different parts of the world the hot topics are occurring in. There are enrichment activities such as geography, recipes and science experiments. Students can practice their reading and writing through the articles and there are math activities attached to the themes. There are also holiday articles to provide insight into ethnic studies/social studies. N2Y can broaden a students' world view and become more aware/accepting of other's cultures and traditions.
