Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Availability Suite
We utilize Veeam for both internal and hosted customer deployments to backup virtual infrastructure. Simple setup and configuration, plus additional features, like replication to alternate datacenters and integration with 3rd party providers make Veeam a great choice.
- Backup of virtualized infrastructure (Hyper-V and VMware). Does not require VM level agents for application backups.
- Pre-Canned reporting with Veeam One can provide basic backup and infrastructure reporting.
- Granular application level recovery. Exchange mailboxes, SQL, Sharepoint, etc.
- Backup of physical infrastructure is not up to par with other offerings.
- Backup job failures could use more explanation. Multiple instances of jobs "waiting for backup infrastructure" but there are no other jobs running.
- Ability to quickly restore individual files or folders, Exchange mailboxes, etc.
CommVault is the primary backup solution we use today. Veeam is becoming more used, especially in dedicated customer environments that require Disaster Recovery Services to a secondary datacenter. We use Veeam Backup and Replication to accomplish this.
