Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Availability Suite

We use Veeam Availability Suite for backups and replication. We set up a separate disaster recovery location that we replicate and backup all our data. Veeam Availability Suite is a great tool that allows us flexibility in setting up multiple jobs with various retention policies so that we can meet company regulatory requirements. We also have turned to SureBackup to automatically test our backup and replication jobs to ensure that they work.

  • SureBackup can be challenging to setup.
  • Setting retention policies isn't clear.
  • Can be challenging to set up and work out the errors and warnings.
  • Quick recovery.
  • Having reliable backups.
  • SureBackup freezes up time.
If you are doing backups and replication to a local or remote location I recommend Veeam Availability Suite. It isn't the easiest to use but is very reliable once you get it working properly. The SureBackup was a game changer, allowing us to not have to worry about testing backups manually. It runs in the background and sends an email once it is down letting us know if it was successful.

I wouldn't recommend Veeam to a small business as it can be costly and difficult to set up.

Evaluating Veeam Availability Suite and Competitors

Yes - Veeam replaced and old version of Norton Backup suite. We were upgrading our servers and networking and decided that we need to update our backup as well in order to help us meet our requirements for our Business Continuity Plan. Veeam came highly recommended. We also looked at Barracuda Cloud Backup, Unitrends and Commvault and felt the Veeam met our needs best.
